Complying with the initiative undertaken by Indira Paryavaran Bhawan to ensure that the use of single-use plastic is eradicated in the country, the Environment Committee of the Tis Hazari District Court, Delhi has issued a circular requesting all the members of the society including Officers/Officials of the court, lawyers, litigants and all other member of general public to make the court premises free of single-use plastic.
Mr. Rakesh Kumar Sharma, the Chairman of the Environment Committee of the court in the circular issued invited everyone to join hands together to create plastic-free environment. In furtherance of this request, the circular mentioned that vide this circular, viz. No. 74482-74632/EC/Genl./2018, dated 28th November 2018, a ban on single-use plastic items and consequently requested all Judicial Officers, Brach Heads, Brach Incharges, staff members of the establishment [Tis Hazari District Court], Lawyers and litigants, and members of general public to do away with the use of single-use plastic items such as PET water bottles, plastic cups, plastic plates, plastic glasses, plastic jugs, plastic folders, plastic banners etc. to create a Plastic Free Zone at all District Courts.
The said circular is forwarded to all the Districrt Courts in Delhi, viz. Karkardooma, Rohini, Patiala House, Dwarka and Saket Courts. Also, instruction have been given to the Stationary Incharge not to purchase plastic files/folders for use in exhibitions/workshops/seminars/conferences/trainings etc.
